Reiki is the ancient art of healing by touch. The word is Japanese: REI meaning universal and Ki meaning life force. Reiki is a way of channelling this energy to address not only physical disorders, but also to open the mind to the causes of dis-ease and pain.
It is a beautiful and gentle therapy that supports the client, whilst demanding nothing of them. It calms the mind and helps the body's innate ability to heal. It can bring feelings of calmness and peace, allowing the mind and emotions to regain their rightful balance, and supports physical healing of the body. It is helpful for many symptoms, including:
- Poor sleep
- Worry and anxiety
- Aches & Pains
- Help to release trapped emotions form the body & mind
- Joint aches
Reiki is not a religion, as it holds no creeds or doctrine. Its use of energy can be traced back for thousands of years, spanning many diverse cultures and ancient civilisations.
In a Reiki treatment the practitioner lays his/her hands in a number of positions over the client’s body, thereby acting as a channel or conductor for Reiki energy. The energy then begins to move in and through the client’s system, naturally directing itself to the source of any imbalance. Consequently the outcome of each Reiki treatment is different, since it is determined not by the practitioner, but by the system of the person receiving it. Each person draws in just the right amount of energy that he/she needs, or can be receptive to at that point, to bring about necessary changes. As Reiki begins to move in and heal our whole system it begins to work on and break through our limiting beliefs and attitudes thus increasing our ability to take responsibility for our lives and well-being. Reiki is a powerful tool for both physical healing and for expanding our conscious understanding of life and the nature of reality.
